Lottery to landmark: our Sydney Opera House partnership renews Hero Image

We’re proud to renew our historic partnership with the Sydney Opera House for a fourth year, continuing a connection that helped bring one of Australia’s most-loved cultural icons to life.

Our Senior Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said The Lott by NSW Lotteries and Opera House partnership was a reminder of what can be achieved when Australians unite to back a bold idea.

Between 1957 and 1986, 496 lottery draws sold more than 86 million tickets and raised $102 million towards the landmark’s construction.

“It’s still incredible to think that when Australians bought tickets in the first Opera House Lottery in 1957, they were helping create a globally celebrated masterpiece and a cultural icon that continues to inspire millions of people," Liz said.

“This partnership is about celebrating that history, but it’s also about looking forward.

“The Opera House continues to bring people together through creativity, storytelling and shared experiences, and we’re proud to continue supporting a place that means so much to Australia.”

And for more than a century, Aussie lottery players have also helped deliver lasting benefits for communities, from hospitals and world-leading research to support when natural disasters strike. The Opera House is a powerful example of that shared contribution.

“As we mark another year together, we look forward to creating more ways for this much-loved building to reach more people within the community it was built to serve,” Sydney Opera House Head of Partnerships Chloe Sawyer said.
