Koalas are listed as endangered in NSW, Queensland and the ACT.
In 2024/25 alone, WIRES received more than 800 calls about sick, injured, orphaned and displaced koalas, highlighting the need for fast access to specialist care.
It’s why we’re proud to donate a further $100,000 to WIRES to help complete the Wedderburn Koala Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney’s south-west.
The facility will reduce travel time for koalas needing urgent care so WIRES volunteers and wildlife ambulances can get them to specialist treatment faster.
Its location was chosen because the Wedderburn area contains the only disease-free growing koala population listed in Greater Sydney.
Today’s donation marks our fourth year of support for WIRES and this project.
